Château des Tours
Medieval castle (1213/1218) built by Renault de Forez using blocks of local limestone. Outside: Cylindrical keep, semi-circular tower, rectangular central building. Inside : Gallo-Roman mosaics, small archaeological museum,great hall, prison, hoarding.
Open from March to July and from September to November 2012 : Guided tours for individuals every Saturday at 15h. Guided tours in August every Tuesday at 18h00. By appointment for other times and for groups.

BAGNOLS
Château de Bagnols
The listed 13th-15th century castle has been restored and converted to a luxury **** hotel. The Renaissance mural and ceiling paintings have been wonderfully restored. An ornate Gothic fireplace dominates the Salle des Gardes, the restaurant of the château, and on this fireplace you can see Charles 8th's coat of arms sculpted to commemorate his visit in 1490. Other famous guests have included Mme de Sévigné and Mme de Grignan. The Hôtel- restaurant is open all year. Priority is given to hotel guests but the grounds and some parts of the castle are open to the public all year round. A tour of the site and the grounds can be arranged if a member of staff is available.

CHARNAY
Tour panoramique Nord du Château de la Mansarde
Climb the 74 steps to the top of the restored 15th/16th century golden stone castle to the orientation table and enjoy a 360° panoramic view over the surrounding countryside. Half way up you will discover an exhibition room.
Open from the end of June to the end of September on Sundays and Bank Holidays from 10h30 to 12h30 and from 15h30 to 18h30.

COGNY
Maison Forte d'Epeisses
This fortified house probably dates from the 13th century and occupies a dominant position in this village situated in the heart of Golden Stone Beaujolais country. It is a private residence but the owners will show you round, if you make an appointment, as they are proud of their award winning restoration work.
Open Days on the following dates: 8th, 9th, 29th and 30th April, 1st, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th and 27th May, 15th and 16th September 2012 from 13h30 to 18h00. Mondays are reserved for schools and groups, by appointment, from Easter to November 1st.
Rates : Adults + 18 years (3 €). Free for -18 years.

Château du Sou
The owner welcomes groups of 20 persons and more, by appointment only, for a one hour visit in French or in English to discover Sou history, architecture and legends. Thanks for booking during the week, on the week-end the castle is usually rent for weddings.

MONTMELAS-SAINT-SORLIN
Château de Montmelas
This castle dating from the 10th century used to belong to the Lords of Beaujeu and has been in the same family since 1566! It is still a family home and lived in all year round. The owners produce excellent wines, which you can taste on site, and they will give you a guided tour of the château. You are bound to be struck by the remarkable view of the entire valley with Mont Blanc as a backdrop.
Open for individuals on first saturday of the month at 11h from january to november. In july, visits also on tuesdays and thursdays at 14h. All year round by appointment for groups.
Rates: Groups with visit and tasting (8 € from 20 persons). Package 160 € for less than 20 persons. Individuals from 14 years (5 €). Free for children under 7 years.

OINGT
Tour d'Oingt
The 18m high keep was built between 1181 and 1193 and formed part of the second castle built for the Seigneurs d'Oingt. Nowadays the 3 storey tower houses a museum exhibiting fossils, cut stones, ceramics, documents, photos all tracing the history of the area from the middle ages to today. From the top of the tower there is a breathtaking view of the Azergues valley, the Monts du Lyonnais and the Beaujolais. Orientation table.
Exhibition: stone masons, tilers and fossil collection.
Open from 15th April to 30th September 2012, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays; from 15h to 19h. In July and August every day from 15h to 19h.
Individuals: 1,50 €. Free for children under 12 yrs.
Groups: fixed rate 50 € including a tour of the village.

THEIZE
Château de Rochebonne
Au XIVe siècle le château fort faisait partie des Domaines du chapitre de Saint Jean. Il fut rasé en 1363 puis le château actuel fut construit au XVIIe siècle en différentes phases. Edifice protégé au titre des Monuments Historiques.
Visites possibles uniquement sur rendez-vous. Ouvert aux individuels à certaines dates durant l'été.
